US Model 1866 2nd Allin Conversion Rifle

.50-70. 36.5" barrel. NSN. Bright barrel and furniture, case hardened lock and receiver, full length walnut musket stock with three solid round barrel bands retained by springs. Singles shot breechloading infantry rifle altered from Civil War era musket. Standard Springfield lock markings dated 1865 at tail, breech block with {Eagle Head} and 1866 date, {Eagle Head} at breech as well. Stock with single script HSH cartouche. Retains M1866 pattern leaf rear sight, musket pattern combination front sight and socket bayonet lug, sling swivels on the triggerguard and middle barrel band and a jag head cleaning rod. {ANTIQUE}

Condition
Fine. Bore mostly bright with some scattered oxidation and frosting and with strong rifling. Metal with moderate oxidation, showing some scattered light surface rust as well. Some old dried grease has also created some staining. Markings remain clear and crisp. Mechanically functional action. Wood crisp with some feathery texture and showing some scattered bumps, dings and mars.
